Dr. Lauren Chipman

Dr. Lauren Chipman is a native of Shelby County. She grew up in Millington and attended Millington Central High School. After high school, she attended Union University and graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies. While at Union, she met the love of her life, Steven. She received her medical training at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine. In 2007, Lauren and Steven returned to Memphis for her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Lauren is board certified in General Pediatrics. Lauren and Steven have four children and are members at Grace Church in downtown Memphis.

Dr. Chipman works in the Whitehaven office.

Dr. Melissa Damico

Dr. Melissa Damico joined Memphis Children’s Clinic in August of 2012. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Mississippi and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. She completed her residency at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center and was the first recipient of the Russell W. Chesney Award for Excellence in Pediatric Residency. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Damico enjoys spending time with her family in Mississippi and traveling to Oxford in the fall to cheer on the Ole Miss Rebels.

Dr. Damico practices at the Olive Branch, Southaven and Whitehaven offices.

Dr. Tim Gillespie

Dr. Tim Gillespie joined Memphis Children’s Clinic in 1988 after completing training and serving as Chief Pediatric Resident at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center. He has a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and his M.D. from the University of Tennessee. He is board certified in General Pediatrics. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee, and he has been awarded the Community Pediatric Teaching Award by the residents at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital on two occasions. He has been listed in the Best Doctors in America yearly since 1999. He has been married for thirty years to Anita, and they have two sons. He is active in his church and his hobbies include soccer and world history. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer for Memphis Children’s Clinic.

Dr. Gillespie practices at the Whitehaven and Olive Branch offices.

Dr. Oluwaseun Heinkel

Dr. Oluwaseun Heinkel grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Lebonheur Children’s Medical Center in 2006, after which she joined Memphis Children’s Clinic. She is board certified in General Pediatrics. Dr. Heinkel and her husband have three children who keep them very busy. In her spare time she likes to play soccer and tennis.

Dr. Heinkel practices in the Whitehaven and Kirby/Hickory Hill offices.

Dr. Faranak Motaghian

Dr. Faranak Motaghian received her M.D. from Shiraz University, Iran in 1980. She completed her pediatric residency at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center in 1988, after which she joined Memphis Children’s Clinic. Dr. Motaghian is board certified in General Pediatrics. She is married to Dr. Fereidoon Parsioon, and they have one child. She enjoys reading, walking, and fishing.

Dr. Motaghian has retired and will no longer be seeing patients.

Dr. Robert Riikola

Dr. Robert Riikola graduated with a B.S. from the University of Tennessee in 1965. He received his M.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center then completed his pediatric residency in 1972. He has been practicing with Memphis Children’s Clinic ever since for over 40 years. He has held several executive positions within the LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center as well as in the general pediatric community. Dr. Riikola has also been honorably recognized by his peers in the medical community on multiple occasions and is board certified in General Pediatrics. He and his wife, Patsy, have two children and four grandchildren. Dr. Riikola is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and has been awarded the Community Pediatric Teaching Award on two occasions.

Dr. Riikola has retired and is no longer seeing patients.

Dr. Whitney Sanders

Dr. Sanders is originally from the small town of Humboldt, TN. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before attending medical school at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She completed her pediatric residency training at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident from 2010-2011. Dr. Sanders is board certified in General Pediatrics and has been with Memphis Children’s Clinic since 2011. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Sanders enjoys traveling (especially to Walt Disney World!), reading a good book, baking, and trying new restaurants. She and her husband have two children, Kate and Andrew.

In Memorium: Dr. Van Snider

Dr. Van Snider graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in 1958. He received his M.D. from the University of Arkansas Medical School and completed his pediatric residency with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1968 after serving in the United States Navy. He joined Memphis Children’s Clinic in 1969 and has been in practice here over 40 years. In that time, he studied at Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital while in post residency training and has held several University of Tennessee Health Science Center teaching appointments. Dr. Snider is board certified in General Pediatrics, is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and The American College of Sports Medicine. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Tennesssee Health Science Center. He and his wife have three children and several grandchildren. He is the immediate past Chief Medical Officer for Memphis Children’s Clinic.
